Rewiring Kill Switch

dimanche 30 novembre 2014

I'm thinking of rewiring my kill switch. I havent verified it is actually wired this way, but the schematic in the manual says it is in series with the power feed to the DC Distribution and Fuse Panel. When it is off, the converter and the propane detector are still connected to the battery. Now, when I put my trailer away for a while I have to get out a wrench, open up the battery box, and disconnect the negative cable to avoid battery drain by the propane detector. When plugged in, the converter is always connected to the battery. If I put the kill switch in series with the battery, when thrown everything in the trailer will be off. When storing all i have to do is throw the kill switch. Any reason not to do this?

Another curious design- there are 50A breakers between the battery bussbar and the battery and between the battery bussbar and the power panel feed, but the 50A converter feeds the bussbar and thus both the power panel and the battery through a 30A breaker. How does that make sense? Again, not verified with actual wiring, but that is what the schematic shows.

Thanks,

Al
