Hello, I'm new to the forum and hopefully will soon be a new airstream owner. We just traded in our Toyota Highlander for a 2012 GL350 as part of our plan to move from a Coleman Pop-up to a hard-sided travel trailer. All was going as planned until we started looking at Airstreams and fell in love.
So... we are seriously considering a 25FB Eddie Bauer. The trailer is well within our TV's towing weight, but tongue weight is a bit of a concern. That said, I've spent the last week and a half researching the forums, and see lots of people towing 25 foot and larger AS'es with the GL. As I understand the GL's factory hitch was significantly beefed up from 2011-on and crawling underneath the vehicle confirms that.
My question is about additional hitch reinforcement. I understand Andy at Can-am is the man to ask and I've sent him an email but he is apparently on vacation. I'm in Seattle and a trek to Ontario is not going to possible for me (plus I'd really like to be camping in the new AS by Labor Day). Does anyone know of a good hitch place in the Seattle area that has done/is familiar with hitch reinforcement on the GL?
