How do you work this thing?

Hello. I want to try making math rock with electronics, turntablism, ableton push 2,modular synths.Upon searching for the echoplex I found out about this and could use some tip's on how to get started. Like using it with ableton and why all of a sudden when I press record I can't seem to finish the recording when I press again.
