Hello,

I am a 25 year old female, and after a long fight to cure my hyperthyroidism in non-invasive ways and being unsuccessful, I just underwent treatment for thyroid ablation. I am about 55 hours in right now.

I am just wondering, to the people who have had this before, what your precautions were following treatment. I was told the basics such as using my own bathroom and flushing twice, using my own utensils and how to dispose of them, no human contact, and no swapping saliva or sexual intercourse. I realized though, my doctors didn't give me set time frames on some of these precautions and how long I needed to keep it up. Looking online, the time frames for precautions vary so much... some of them up to three days! My main concern is not wanting to radiate my fiance whom I live with. I am with him from the time we get off of work in the evening until we go back to work in the morning. Currently, I am staying in the spare bedroom, using my own bathroom, and staying at least 6 ft. from him. I don't know how long I need to continue to sleep in the spare room, or when I can sit on the couch with him for long periods of time. My doctor did tell me to not share utensils or food, swap saliva, or have intercourse for 2 weeks. Other than that, I'm in the dark on time frame.

I wish I had asked clarifying questions at the time of treatment, but I had so many other questions that I was asking, this was not even a thought that I had in mind.

Anyways, what were some of your time frames of keeping up with these precautions?

Thank you in advance for the help and information
