Naval discharge & bleeding while menstruating

dimanche 19 juillet 2015

I noticed today when I started my cycle that I had a little bit of discharge and a tiny bit of blood that was inside my naval. I'd never thought that it was related to my menstrual cycle, but thinking back on it, this is a constant occurrence. I told my doctor about the discharge a few months ago and he said it was a common belly button infection that a lot of people got, and he gave me an anti-bacterial cream which seemed to help, but it just came back with my next period.

Did some research and family records digging and it turns out that my grandmother and aunt both have endometriosis, which might account for my heavy flow, but another thing bothered me. I came across something called umbilical endometriosis, and I know it's rare, but please don't just blow me off because of that.

I'm curious to know if there are any other illnesses that could cause bleeding from the naval during menstruation? It's not gushing, it's literally just enough to show up on a q-tip, but it's still blood. I have no other answers for this, and it seems too convenient for some belly button infection to just randomly flare up whenever I'm on my period.

Some side symptoms, when I press on my naval, it feels a bit swollen, like something is there? Pressing also causes discomfort, and if pressed hard enough, pain. When bending over, it feels like there's some kind of cord connected from my naval to my uterus, and bending would, essentially, make this cord taut, and causes extreme pain, so I avoid a lot of bending on my cycle.

This has been happening for a few years, at least 4. Any insight would be helpful. And yes, I will be scheduling an appointment with my doctor, but I don't want to bring up the idea of umbilical endo, because it's so rare, knowing my doctor he'd just blow me off.
