I am 65 years old and had triple arthrodesis surgery on both my feet when I was 12 years old. I was born with flat feet and back in 1962 the doctors thought performing this surgery on my feet would somehow help me. It did not. Over the years my right foot fusions have basically fallen apart. My foot is crooked and doctors today are telling me that they first have to break my foot, apply some wedges, cut out other parts, to straighten my foot before they can consider doing an ankle replacement.
Walking and standing are becoming more and more difficult for me and I really want to become more mobile so am considering going through the straightening process and then the subsequent potential ankle replacement.
Just wondering if anyone else out there has had similar procedures/experiences and how satisfied you are with the results. Additionally, I'm wondering if you have any doctor referrals. I've met with a doctor in Columbus, Ohio and one in the Indianapolis area. I live in Carmel, Indiana.
Thanks,
Dave
