looking for the right Airstream

jeudi 27 mars 2014

Hi, My wife and I are looking to import a vintage Airstream into the UK for the first time for use as a tourer/camper and trying to locate the right one online is proving difficult and we are hoping some members might be able to assist by pointing us in the right direction or perhaps have a suitable one for sale.

What we are looking for is:

A late 60's or 70's trailer that's ready to use with no major faults - good bodywork, floor and chassis in sound condition.

We are looking for a twin axle trailer with a body length of up to 23' (just the body length, not including bumper and tow hitch) In the UK we can legally only tow a trailer with a body length of up to 7m, (23') with a normal SUV type vehicle. I believe you guys measure the length of the trailer to include the bumper and tow hitch, so depending on the lengths of these we could be looking at a 25/26' trailer. However we don't necessarily want the maximum length so a 23' Safari, for eaxmple would be fine.

Ideally we would like a side bathroom layout with bed space in the rear

Also would like the trailer to have an awning. The internals do not have to be original and we would be happy to look at examples that have been converted.

If anybody can help us out here that would be great. Maybe you can recommend resellers who often sell vintage Airstreams or maybe you know one that is for sale.
