Must lift cab and replace floor. Has anyone heard of creating a "basement" in an older 22 foot Caravanner? By adding a 12 inch upright to outriggers etc and then a circumferential support atop the uprights. can lift the cab 12 inches. Underbelly super stiff foamed to top of original frame then a very thin sub floor surface on which to store virtually all interior contents i.e. bed frames, air mattresses, TV trays, lawn chairs, counters, sinks, cook tops, tanks, 100% duty air compressor, air tank, batteries, pure sine inverter etc. New floor of material HDPE which cutting boards are made of. New floor tied into circumferential ring with appropriate supports to main frame. Series of hinged "trap doors" access the basement contents. Over the road travel has a completely bare inside cab and sets up for 6 persons at off grid camp sites. Have done center of gravity calculations and CG is actually lower. 4400 watt dual fuel generator is on front tongue as is electric leveler (replaced the one with a crank handle) and best coupler. Spare tire and propane on bumper. Wood burning heater transported in Suburban in winter. Frame will have 1 1/2 " "L" angle to stiffen. Solid axle changed to independent suspension 2 each 2,200# air bags lower rig to set on ground and entry is via a 5' slant ramp. Have also reduced weight by almost 300#s. Insulation 6 thicknesses of bubble pack with heavy duty gross weave flame retardant canvas on snaps. Opinions please? lrahnmajusafret@gmail.com 4022963796
