Just sold my square camper after purchasing a 1983 Excella 31' from my parents. Excited to keep it in the family and I'm sure my wife and 10 year old twins will enjoy it as well.
Anyone ever added a slideout to an Airstream?
Searched, and not found anyone who has done it.
Not talking about the later factory installed units in the wide-body.
The difficulties are obvious, with the curved roof, but someone must have done it!
I had some ideas, and wondered if it could be done...
Links, or knowledge would be great!

Storage has birds; poop or cover?
Hello all,
Just completed our first winterizing and dropped our new trailer off at an indoor storage just 10 minutes frome home. Great deal in a pole barn but I have concerns about both mice and birds. Both ARE present.
Mice: Going to place Decon AND mothballs on the exterior ground (it's dirt) and bounce sheets on the interior and then just cross my fingers.
Birds: While I understand it is not a good idea to cover/tarp your trailer outdoors due to the possible consequences of mixing wind and dirt, what about doing it indoors with no wind? If I don't cover it, it WILL have bird poop all over it in the spring (corrosive to finish?).
What would you do with your trailer in this situation? Cover it or just wash the poo in the spring?
Thanks a million for your help!
Oh, and I am still baffled how you all winterize your trailers in 30 minutes. Something to aspire to, I guess. Took me over three hours!

Range Ignitor
On my 2013 23FB, the range ignitor failed, got a warranty replacement, installed it, checked all wire connections...and it doesn't work. Made sure the gas was flowing by lighting the burners with a lighter. Anyone experienced failed ignitors?
'67 Caravel cigarette lighter
In our '67 Caravel when we're on city power the cigarette lighter burns up phone chargers. Is that normal? I have ruined several phone chargers before I realized the lighter in the Caravel was the problem. I take it if I switch the "Lights" univolt to battery power the phone charger should work fine? I haven't tried it since I don't want to ruin another phone charger. I would think that if this is the way the cigarette lighter works, you should never use it when you are on shore power.
Classic motorhome for sale Excellent condition
Hi Folks.
Friends of mine have a 1991 34ft tag that is for sale. I have seen this M/H and it is in excellent condition imho. Owned by a gentleman farmer who has stored it inside a huge metal implement shed. Since the floor is gravel he covers the gravel with a huge plastic tarp and drives onto it. To keep dust off it, he has another huge tarp that is lowered from the ceiling when the M/H is not in use. Believe me when he raises the cover, your heartbeat will quicken.
The outside shines. The inside is as new. As far as I know the mechanics have always been maintained but this you would want an expert to check out. Reason for selling? getting too old to use it. Medical insurance for travel in the USA is now into the thousands of $$$.
It is located in Canada about 20 miles from the Detroit border. Since it was made in the USA, importing it into the USA should not be a problem.
I have no idea what they would sell it for. If interested, send me your phone number and email address and I will forward this to them.
Why am I involved? Just being a good friend and appreciate the quality of this M/H. :wally:

How tall is my Ambassador?
Hi All. I've been a member for a few months and have been learning quite a lot from all the interesting blogs and forums. I am planning on building a pole barn to house our trailer but unsure how tall to make the garage door. I would like to have a 10' door with a 12' ceiling height but I'm not sure that a 10' door will be tall enough. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
