Thermostat Replacement

Here's one for you electricians. My Atwood Hydro Flame thermostat has failed - - it will not shut off. It's rating (according to the label inside) is AMP 0.2 - 1.0. A replacement I have, not an Atwood, has a heat anticipator adjustable from 0.15 to 1.2 amps. Both thermostats have have a simple two wire connection. Will the replacement work, safely?
