Our new Ram 2500 has the 7-pin connector on the passenger side of the hitch (in the bumper, actually), instead of the driver's side as in our previous truck.
Our trailer's electrical umbilical cord isn't long enough to reach with enough slack for me to feel comfortable. There's some extra length for the umbilical coiled up under the camper (it might be another foot or so total), so my plan is to undo that, route the cord over to the passenger side of the tongue, put it through a wire hanger mounted on the bottom of the tongue on the passenger side, then hook it to the truck by looping it under the lifter bar and up on to the bumper.
Does this make sense? Or am I missing something simple here? We're planning to keep the truck and trailer for a long time, so a permanent solution makes sense.
I'm nervous about running it over the hitch/tongue for fear it'll catch on something during a turn. There's not enough slack to do that, either, so either way I have to undo that bundle under the camper. I'm guessing this is why that bundle is there in the first place...
Thanks.
