dometic ccc forgot I have a furnace

vendredi 31 octobre 2014

Its cold tonight so I went to turn my furnace on. The dometic comfort control center doesn't think I have a furnace only cool and fan. Tried resetting by holding zone and mode buttons. Only says init. Does not reset or show any options. Any ideas?

Happy Halloween from Seattle!

My wife put candy in rubber gloves this year, and the kids were totally blown away. There is nothing more special than the joy of a child.

I'm blessed to live in such a vibrant neighborhood here in Ballard.

2012 Airstream Flying Cloud 25 - Colorado

Title: 2012 Airstream Flying Cloud 25 - Colorado

I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

Pristine 2012 Flying Cloud FB Twin. Better than new with the following upgrades:

Michelin nitrogen filled tires,

Verlo custom made oversized pillow top twin mattresses,

Precision Temp RV5000 tank less, constant hot water system,

Top of the line IOTA DLX-55/IQ4 3 Stage converter/charger and transfer switch.

It is always parked under cover, waxed by dealer at end of each season. The trailer is like new inside and out with all the factory problems sorted out.

It is truly better than a new one with $5,000 in upgrades the factory will not install.

We are reluctantly putting a deposit down on a new 30' Bunkhouse. In 2012 we decided the best all around trailer at the time was the 25FB Twin and if not for family considerations I still think it is the best choice period but the 30' Bunkhouse was not available then and we have decided our 14 year old needs his own space. So grab it while you can.

Seeking advice on custom engine for 1965 Buick wagon to tow a vintage Airstream

Dear Airstream enthusiasts,

Since I was 7 years old, my family has owned a 1965 Buick Special station wagon, bought second-hand. Over the years it has become my car. Here are a few pictures of the restored car for the curious:

Biquette and autumn trees 2013 - canebas

I have long dreamed of purchasing a restored vintage Airstream trailer - something in the 19-22 foot range. Here is the 1964 line-up for reference:

http://ift.tt/1wOnQO6

Alas, the dream has become a nightmare before it could even get started. The custom engine I ordered for my trusty wagon failed after just 3 months and 1000 miles. So I'm just about back to square-one.

I should have asked this question here before embarking on this nightmare, but better late than never. I'm trying to power my Buick with a genuine Buick V-8, so that basically boils down to two choices: the Buick 350 cid or one of the Buick big-blocks (400, 430, or 455 cid.)

The Buick small block is one assertive engine. Stock versions could produce over 300 horsepower and over 400 foot-pounds of torque. It should be also noted that the 1968-1972 Jeep Wagoneer was powered by the Buick small-block and I assume my more timid wagon couldn't tow anything heavier than those Wagoneers.

The engine that died was a stroker version of the Buick 430 cid. It made over 500 horsepower and 500 foot-pounds of torque. However, I now believe the muscle car camshaft that was installed was completely unsuitable for towing. Contrary to the engine builder's recommendations, I now suspect that my original preference of an RV styled camshaft was a much more reasonable choice.

The dead engine is now at another engine builder and will hopefully be undergoing post-mortem soon to determine the cause of failure. My problem is to decide whether to try to salvage this big-block engine or start from scratch with either a 350 Buick or another Buick big-block.

Unfortunately, I'm sure it will be difficult for this forum membership to be able to help me, but if anyone has some thoughts about the specifications for custom engine to be built for a classic car to be a tow vehicle - any wisdom would be appreciated!

Cheers, Edouard

'71 Overlander interior furnishings

Title:

I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

Just carefully gutted a 1971 Overlander International. All interior parts for sale--make an offer. Original cabinetry is in remarkably good condition. Plastic bins all like new. Original oven, range, and refrigerator all functional and clean. Original light fixtures. Most bath pieces usable. Also selling interior end caps with typical, repairable cracks. Will send pictures on request. Ask for what you're looking for--if it was in this model trailer, I've probably got it.

Do i really have the only one?

I have read all the way thru the Argosy data base and it looks like i have the only Argosy so far with the "J" as where it was made.I gather from what i have read here that the "J" indicates it was built in the Airstream plant.

The rear bumper and storage compartment and the front frame and trailer hitch were originally painted a bright gold color, not the sort of bronze that the belly pan and lower corner pieces are. VIN.# 24-T8J-2095

Anyone aware of another "j" built Argosy? A poor photo of the VIN plate can be seen on page 11 of the data base.

Coating on the exterior of modern Airstreams

I've searched this forum and the internet in general for information on the chemical nature of the coating that is now used on Airstream exterior aluminum. As I understand it, it is not a clear coat and that starting in about 2000 Airstream started using precoated panels from Alcoa. I checked my manual (2006 Bambi 19') and it gives no information. This topic must have been discussed on the forum previously, but all I can find is material on the old clear coat finishes. Any information would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

This is a 27' Safari - not a 25' as stated because this site does not have an option to show that it is a 27' ?? why

It is in excellent condition and has always been stored inside and has had very minimal use. It has a Hensley hitch and other extras with a custom fabric interior. It has been very well cared for! I am the original owner. I forgot to take exterior pictures before it was put away but it is in perfect condition with the exception of a small dent on one of the forward top curves due to a branch falling on it.

1988 Airstream Excella 34’ $12,900.00. This Airstream is super clean and ready for camping. It pulls easy and is a real beauty. All of the awnings are like new, and the interior is even solid oak. Minor dent in center roof panel

I don't know how this happened... it was there when we bought the trailer (2006 19' Bambi Safari). It looks like someone leaned on the roof panel a bit too much while doing something to the roof. It is hard to photograph the dent, but I have attached the best shot I've got. There doesn't appear to be any creases in the panel.... it is just pushed in.

So what would be the best way to remove the dent? I plan to have it done, but want some idea of the best method before talking to the dealer. I have heard that a suction cup might work...anyone with experience with this technique? I could have the center panel replaced for $2k, but that seems like overkill.

Thanks in advance for any input.

MICE,,, moved in

Hello A$ friends..

Got the 72 Overlander all winterized and parked for the winter.. Went out the other day and saw signs of mice every where. The past 2 winters I had no problems.. I cant even think how they can get it since the bottom is all sealed up proper. I felt it might be the safety chain was hanging down but put it up the moment I saw the mouse problem.

Had a packet of 3 of the plug in "nose makers" I got for Xmas a few years ago so I plugged 1 in the bathroom and 1 in the kitchen along with one in the bedroom area.. I have done a sudden inspection and have not seen any after a weeks time with the plug in noise makers..

I need to clean up all the little mouse berries that are all over the floor to make sure but hate to go to that effort if they are still camped out..

Anyone have luck with the rodent repellers like I got? Or am I being to hopeful?

I am wondering if there is debris in there and if so how do I find it to remove it? I have the valve to the hot water heater bypassed too. Help! There is a freak snow coming in tonight!

Looking for 2005 or later 25' to 27' models

Title: Add New - Airstream Trailer Classifieds - Airstream Trailers For Sale

I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

I'm searching for a late model (2005 or later)trailer for my family. My desire is for a 25 footer, but we may could possibly go to 27/28 feet.

We are are mid-30's couple with two younger children (ages 9 & 5)who are ready to start a new adventure in our lives. We've been lucky enough to have a few major health issues in our 30's that have allowed us to understand and appreciate how short life is and how it's a huge waste to sit back and just let time pass you by, or to just slog through a job in order to get a paycheck that is blown on frivolous junk. Instead we are taking time to live life now and experience the joy of having our young children.

The next big adventure in life we're choosing to undertake is to explore all across our wonderful country's back roads. So we're looking for a solid trailer that gives us enough room to comfortably sleep everyone while on this adventure. We'd prefer a setup that has at least a dedicated full or queen bed, a sofa and dinette. Beyond that we're pretty open, as long as it's in good mechanical shape.

So, if you're moving on from your trailer and are looking for a family who will treat it with love and care please send me a message. (And don't worry about location, we're willing to travel for the right trailer.)

Thank you for reading this far and have a great day!

Minivan Towing

I was told there are folks here towing with Minivans, but the search feature on this forum returns some odd results so I'm starting a new thread.

My plan is (was) to go for the 16' Sport (or something with equivalent weight ratings) as my first Airstream. It suits my needs well and would be paired with my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T with tow package (bigger brakes, upgraded rear shocks etc.).

While the tow ratings for what I can pull and tongue weight work out I ran into a snag...the GCWR of my van is 7000lbs

Curb Weight of van is 4510 + Base weight of Bambi 2810 = 7310

There's nothing left for payload.

I get people using reinforced hitches but how does that overcome the GCWR ratings of these 'smaller' vehicles? I've been looking into what people are towing with and the numbers don't add up.

I'm not buying a truck.

I'm looking for feedback and suggestions. Is what I want to do possible with an Airstream? I'll be pulling mostly up and down the east coast with the occasional jaunt over to the midwest.

Thanks a bunch!

Chat Room?

I noticed this morning for the first time that Airforums has a chat room. Is this new, or has it been there forever?

If it's been around for a while, can you tell me if it gets much use. Also, is there a prescribed time when people tend to show up there?

Leak Repair

I just bought a 1968 Streamline and after the rain last night I see that it has several leaks. One is in the middle of the roof out of a rivet about 6 inches away from one of the roof vents, the other is around a window above the wheel hub, and the other was around the door. I'm guessing the roof will be easy to fix with some type of sealant (any suggestions on a good sealant?), and the door is probably a matter of replacing the seal, but I'm not sure about what to do about the leak around the window, it may be coming in from around the frame and needs to also be sealed but I think it may also be because the louvered window doesn't close up as tightly as the other windows... if that's the case what could I do with the louvered window to keep it from leaking? Caulk it closed or are they fairly easy to repair?

Water on floor of bathroom

I have a 2007 classic 30' that seems to have water on the bathroom floor. I first noticed it a couple of months ago when travelling. Whenever the trailer was moved and it had a bumpy ride there would be a puddle on the floor around the toilet. At first I thought it had splashed out of the tank, but now on our last trip to the Outer Banks there was water on the floor constantly. I turned off the water supply to the toilet and the problem stopped.

When I got home I removed the toilet and hooked it up to my garden hose (after a couple a trips to HD to get the right connectors). To my surprise the toilet did not leak. Yesterday while winterizing the trailer I noticed that the pipe to the toilet is very loose. It seems to be loose right after the shut off. So I am thinking that is the source of the problem.

Does anyone have experience with re-crimping pipes? Can I go to my local store and get a crimper and some clamps? What type of system was used in '07? I would really appreciate any advice from folks who are in the know and have experience with this.

Cheers,

Walt

Help Thinking of buying

I am thinking of buying a 1984 34 foot international. It has not been used in about 6 yrs. Buying from an elderly widow so no history. Looks to be in good working order but in need of cleaning. I am a mechanic so repairs are no problem. I have never owned an airstream or even been in one before.

Any advice?

Things to beware of?

How much is it worth?

77 Argosy 26 T- Major Shock problem

Spent an hour on the phone with my local (125 miles) Airstream dealer about the shock problem on my 77 Argosy 26T. I cannot remove the shocks from the trailer. When you loosen the nut, it bottoms against the steel angle and you cannot use a prybar for extra room, there is none and the flange won't move. The dealer's tech svcs guy said that he was not familiar with the trailer but based on the photos I sent from my phone, he thought the only way to change the shocks was to drop the axles off the trailer, change the shocks and rehang them. I can't believe that Airstream/Argosy would design a trailer suspension like that. I am a decent mechanic, having rebuilt my first engine at 17. There has got to be a way to do this but I am still in shock (no pun intended) and am just not seeing it. PLEASE HELP!!:innocent: I should have the photos available tomorrow for upload here.

Are they made that would except the near horizontal position?

I often see some of you vacationing here in Nfld. Hope you have enjoyed.

Have did a little remodelling on my Excella and would like to share if I can get this post work.

I haven't called airstream yet but do you knowledgable owners have any DOCUMENTATION of my 2015 AI being a conversion van? I was told thats how they classify it. My research before purchase says conversion van is considered daily driver and we do drive it all the time out to dinner and such with friends family ect. The dealer had my registration set as MH (motor home) will get on that first thing tomorrow. Have some jealous neighbors and would prefer not to have to lawyer up here shortly.

Excella '34- twin bed to full bed conversion???

Hello! I have recently purchased a 1988 Airstream Excella 34'. It's more aluminum than I really wanted to tow, but it sure is a nice set up. This will be my second Airstream project, and I want to make some custom changes to the interior. It currently has the original twin beds at the end, but I am going to convert it to a RV full-size bed. I have seen diagrams with that particular set up for the Excella '34. However, I have not seen pictures showing how the bed-frame was built or what it looks like. I just know that I must change the twin beds. If any of you have pics of the full-size bed or know the dimensions of the set up, then I would very much appreciate your input. Thank you! Dennis

Officially in the market

Well after some research and trying to figure this out I've realized I can start 'small' and be just fine.

My plan is to go for the 16' Sport (or something with equivalent weight ratings) as my first Airstream. It will be paired with my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T with tow package (bigger brakes, upgraded rear shocks etc.). I'll probably buy a used trailer.

It's just me--one thin photographer in his 30ies who sleeps on the sofa instead of the Queen sized bed in the bedroom; both sleeping options in the trailer are bigger than where I sleep now! LOL. I thought I would start with a larger trailer and grow into it, but that also meant a new TV and I want to start in a more simple fashion and see what exactly my needs will be.

Will probably camp mostly in designated places with hookups but maybe a little boondocking too. Whatever interests me.

I'm open to thoughts and suggestions.

Cheers!

Fully Restored - haven't seen a comparison price

We have a medical need coming up that's going to cost a bit. And though I might be able to live off mac and chees and wieners, I have this Airstream I'm almost done with.

1964 Overlander. It has everything original including the original working TV antenna, all restored. And more. It now has 2 tandem gray tanks, new black tank, new toilet in the original location. New Axles, Tires, Rims. The frame was repainted with Por15, and the floor had one tiny bit of rot by the door, and that was repaired with epoxy. The floor now has 9" VCT Tiles just like the original in a similar pattern. Original fridge and stove both work. All new water lines, propane lines, 3 gel batteries, 30amp hookup and intellipower converter. Lights are LED, new upholstery and covering in actual new old stock material that matches the stove and fridge. All metal outside covered in POR 15 or powder coated. New 7 way whip, custom made storm window for the jalouside window. Custom LED lights in bumper trunk and under the trailer. New heat pump with heat strip, new catalytic heaters, new 10 gallon duel fuel water heater.

If there was an option, and if I could make it invisible and keep the trailer looking original, I did it.

I haven't ever seen a listing where someone went through the extent of upgrades and kept it original like I did, so I was wondering about the value. Colin mentioned in one broadcast that you couldn't get all that for less than $35k, but I haven't seen prices like that - however, he said a lot of those deals were made between airstreamers and never made it to eBay.

Any thoughts?

Rob

Verizon Acquires Millenicom.com Customers

Important information for Millenicom.com customers:

Millenicom customer accounts have been acquired by Verizon; and all Verizon-based Millenicom data plans (e.g., Millenicom Hotspot Plan, 20GB for $89.99) will terminate on 11/08/14.

Verizon appears to be offering former Millenicom customers a 20GB plan for $99.99 with a $10/month discount for 12 months, if one agrees to a one-year contract. Without a contract, Millenicom customers can still get 20GB for $99.99, but without the $10/month discount. Unlike Millenicom, Verizon will add taxes and fees to monthly billings.

Verizon communications to Millenicom customers are spotty, and many/most customers are completely unaware of the information contained in the articles, which appear below.

The last link contains details on contacting a special Verizon/Millenicom service representative who can handle the switch in service. At the present time, it appears that regular service representatives, local Verizon sales offices and third-party resellers are completely unaware of this transition; and they CANNOT offer the special rates described below.

Note: These links were current as of the morning of 10/29/14.

Stovetop Clearance?

I'm about to start my Kitchen Remodel in the '77 Safari.

I'm planning to replace the range with a cook top, probably this one from VTS

Atwood 3-Burner Cook Top

Does anyone know the clearance required below this type of cook top?

I'm building an entire new kitchen cabinet from scratch. We normally don't cook inside the trailer and have never used the oven. I only need burners for maybe making coffee or soup on a rainy day. Removing the oven will give us some much needed storage and save some weight, right now the oven is full of pots and pans.

Cute Electric Range to propane?

Can I convert an electric range to a propane range. They don't make turquoise ones anywhere that I can find. Only vintage. So, has anyone done this? Can it be done?

Thank you.

Lisa

Bought the trailer about 4 or 5 years ago realized a little too late that the frame has some serious rust. I was going to restore the inside but haven't had the time. The outside shell is in great condition, the inside has been gutted there are new screens fairly new tires replaced the back 4ft of flooring. I'm deciding whether to sell or go ahead and remodel the inside as a guest room, workroom or office. If interested in making an offer call.

Niagra Falls

Best campgrounds on Canadien side of Niagra Falls?? I like clean, wooded, private.

My intro.

Hey everyone!

So my name is Scott. 40 years old. I live in Wisconsin with my wife, Chrissy. I'm at a crossroads in my life. We both are, really. Maybe it's the fact that I turned 40 years old in August. Maybe it's the way my job has switched directions. It's probably for several reasons that I feel I'm standing at these crossroads more apparent now than ever.

My story right now is this: A few weeks ago, we began kicking around the idea of uprooting our lives and living in an Airstream full-time. We do not have any children nor do we plan on having any children. I've been feeling more and more lately like I'm not living my life. I'm hardly living. I'm simply going through the motions. This isn't living. It's surviving. Life is far too short to work for the weekends, but that's precisely what I'm doing. 3 weeks of vacation and a Saturday & Sunday every week are making me more and more depressed. I've been feeling more and more like I'm not having much purpose in life. My job is completely unsatisfying in every way. I don't make a difference in anyone's life from a career-standpoint. The alarm clock goes off at 5 o'clock in the morning & it's painful.

Why do we do this? Why do we suffer through 55+ hours every single week doing something we don't want to do in our lives? Life is simply far too short for this kind of torture. This isn't a dress rehearsal. We get one shot at this thing we call "life" and I've wasted far too many years thus far doing monotonous work that simply makes no difference to anyone at all. It's the same stupid questions dealing with the same stupid people every single day.

It is time for a change.

My wife & I are still in the very early preliminary stage of this grand scheme we've begun planning. Sell everything. Sell our home. Buy an Airstream. And then? ...bid this rat race adieu and see things in life most people never get to see. We have the entire contiguous U.S. to see and dammit, I want to see it. I don't want to do what I'm doing and suffer through this for another 25+ years. I know so many people in today's day & age who have to work 'til they die. And for what? ...he who dies with the most stuff & the most money still die. You can't take any of it to your grave so what in the world are we doing? What exactly are we working for? ...because society says we have to? ...because that's what your friends and family are doing? It simply doesn't add up and I don't want to subject myself to it any longer than I absolutely have to.

I've been reading blogs and gathering data mostly from other full-time RV'ers. I'm curious to know their stories, how they ended up where they are and what it took to make that happen. I don't know what sort of timeline we have. We have zero credit card debt and very minimal debt, overall. We essentially just have our mortgage, my wife's student loan & a car payment. If there are any other blogs anyone can recommend from individuals who are doing or have done what I'm wanting to accomplish, I'd love to hear about them. I've read through the most of the "full-time" section and enjoy reading those stories and I applaud those of you who have ditched society's way of life.

I don't have much else to add except that I'm excited to be a member here and hope to one day be able to add the model of Airstream we own to my profile.

Best regards & 1st post ever!! *w00t!*

Beware..unlockable door!

I have a 28ft 2012 FC and when I recently returned from a relatively smooth 500 mile trip I could not open the door. With both locks seemingly unlocked the door would not budge. After some careful prying I was finally able to get it open. The problem was that both screws on the dead bolt had walked out and almost made the door unable to open. Interestingly these screws had no lock washer on either one of them nor was it possible to put one on as it would put the head of the screw too far out for the door to operate. Nor was there any sign of any lock tight type material on the screws. My solution was to apply lock tight to the screw thread and put the screws back using an impact screw driver. I suspect this will work but...if you have a new trailer you might want to check your screws just in case.

Suzy Q :: 2014 Airstream Classic

Suzy Q :: 2014 Airstream Classic (2014-10-29 22:00:55)

10 days away from first Airstream!

My wife and I have been obsessed with learning everything we can about Airstreams over the past month as we move into the next phase in our lives (well I have been obsessed, but my wife is excited!) We live most of the year in Las Vegas and have kids in college in Flagstaff, AZ and Arcata, CA. We travel several times a year to swim meets throughout the southwest and most of our family is in Oregon. So, we have found ourselves driving all over the western United States the past couple years staying in cheap hotels, timeshares, tent camping or sleeping on inflatable mattresses with relatives! We needed a better option and an AS seems like the perfect fit. I have spent about 30 hours a week reading through these forums for the past several weeks and have learned A TON about the options available and what is likely to work best for us. We visited an RV show in Fontana, CA and spent hours climbing around all the AS trailers they had at the show. We visited two AS dealers in Oregon doing the same thing asking every question we could come up with.

I know most owners say to select the trailer first and then find a suitable tow vehicle, but with two kids in college we are going to be limited to our current Nissan Xterra at least for 2-3 years. So, with a 5000lb tow rating we were pretty much limited to the single axle bambi models. After looking at all the bambi models we pretty much decided that any of them would suit our needs for the next three years, but we were leaning toward the 19' or 20' flying clouds or internationals. We have our youngest 13 year old daughter at home with us for a while longer and felt the three of us would be comfortable in either of these floorplans even if she brought a friend with her.

So our search led us to a gently used 2014 19' International CCD through a private party (they bought too small for their needs and are upgrading to a larger AS) about eight hours away from home. They added the awning package, inverter and a small (85 watt) solar system. We pick it up a week from Saturday and are very excited to begin traveling in a new way for us.

I still have a lot of questions about the trailer, where will we enjoy staying the most (commercial campgrounds, state & national parks, etc.), boondocking, what changes to we need to make and how all the systems work on the trailer. We will figure those out over time I am sure. My immediate concern is getting the trailer home safely next week. I will probably post my questions in more detail in the towing forum, but my basic concerns are:

1. Will my 2010 Nissan Xterra have adequate towing capability to safely pull the 19' AS? The tow rating is 5000 lbs with a WD hitch.

2. The previous owners had an Equal-i-zer installed so it seems we should be okay. However, they pulled with a F150 pickup and I will be pulling with an Xterra. Does the hitch need to be adjusted or any parts replaced for it to function properly with my TV? How do I ensure the appropriate amount of weight is transferred to the front axle and trailer axle?

3. I have made many aftermarket modifications to my Xterra (so we can reach remote trailheads) and am unsure how these changes will impact my towing ability. I have replaced the front & rear suspension with high quality, aftermarket coilovers and a-arms (front) and a custom leaf pack with upgraded shocks (rear). The Xterra is lifted about 2" all around as a result. I have also put on larger tires (33" vs 32") with a more aggressive tread (Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs). I have steel bumpers front and rear, steel rock sliders, steel roof rack replacement as well as steel skid plates protecting the underside. This all adds up to a lot of weight over stock, although the coilovers custom leaf pack were designed to carry additional weight over the wimpy stock springs.

4. How much weight in passengers & cargo can I safely load into my TV?

I need to have a trailer brake controller installed this week as the trailers I have pulled up to this point have been in the 1500-2500 lb range and were without brakes. From what I have read the Tekonsha P3 sounds like a good option.

If anyone else has thoughts to share with a newbie Airstreamer I will take any suggestions with much appreciation. We are looking forward to meeting the fine people on these forums in the days and months to come!

A/C Electrical ground wire

I am installing a low profile Penguin heat pump on my 1961 Tradewind. The trailer previously had an A/C unit installed, though that was removed some years ago and replaced with a vent. The original 120 two wire wiring is in place. Here is the question - run new circuit for the A/C or use the existing, and if so, what about the ground? I upgraded the basic electrical in the trailer with a converter and have run a couple new dedicated circuits, such as for the electrical element on the lp/electric water heater and microwave.

Steps falling off

I just set up in Port Aransas, and the steps drooped. It looks like there is a bolt from the outside that is missing. At first look I don't see a way to get to it without pulling rivets, which I have no tools for.

Quick Morningstar question

I'm about to install a new Morningstar mppt 60 charge controller, I'm wondering how much heat is shed from the heat sinks. I have 1.2 kw pv feeding it. I have a location available inside, but don't want any extra heat in the coach. If I install behind the fridge I have the issue of long cable runs and potential voltage drop en route to the batteries. It's a catch 22.

Opinions please?

1983 Airstream Sovereign. The this is a solid trailer that I have camped in for the past 2 years. The bearings have been packed within the last 2 years and the tires are in good shape with no cracking.

I can ship the trailer and you can also contact me at: wam57j@gmail.com.

The rear twin mattresses are new within the past 5 years and are the proper shape for the trailer. Also included with the trailer is the 2' square reciever hitch with equalizer bars. Water systems work great, electrical is great, battery is good, electric jack on the front works good. The bad, a/c thermostat has been sticking on sometimes and gets too cold, the refrigerator was replaced with a non r.v. fridge, the fold down dinette table is missing from between the benches, the door handle is broken and without the handle part it is kind of hard to open, and one of the rubber hoses that connects to the propane bottles needs to be replaced.

Want Electric Jack for Argosy 20 Trailer

Hi, All,

It's been quite a number of years since I logged into this forum. That being said, I am older and a bit wiser and wish to buy an electric power jack for my 20 foot Argosy camper. I am tired of cranking it up and down by hand.

Has anyone any suggestions as to what is best? I called some generic RV place and was told $350, then after several exclamations on my part, the guy miraculously "found" his lowest priced one for $200. I did not get off the boat yesterday, but I think he might have!

Does the old original crank jack get removed and an electric one put in its place? What runs the electricity to it?

Thanks for any and all help.

Things I like to see on New Airstreams

Gray Water Tank Flushing Valve, like the one for black water tank.

Recently I bought a clear adapter for my dump valve hose connection. As usual, I emptied the black water tank first using the new clear adapter and connected a hose to the black water tank flushing valve.

I was fascinated watching what came out with the flushing valve in operation. Way better than anything on network television. Although, I have to admit an amazing similarity to celebrity worship shows like Entertainment Tonight, Academy Awards, and other orgy of self congratulation award shows, etc.

Anyway, after the black tank emptied, I did the gray tank. Then I thought I'll close the gray tank valve and add a couple of gallons of water. Whoa! I was surprised how much sludge (lack of a better word) came out with fresh water. It then occurred to me how nice it would be to have a gray tank flushing valve too. Or maybe a valve to switch the current flushing valve connection between black and gray. What do you think?

What else could Airstream add to improve new models?

Equalizer Hitch: Necessary or Overkill?

Hi Airstreamers, I'm a newbie and novice that's really happy to be here. Just bought a 2006 22' International CCD from a local Airstream dealer. I don't take possession until next week but have a question before I do so. I am adding solar and converting to 6-volt batteries, so I estimate dry weight at well under 5,000 lbs. I'll be towing with a 2014 4WD short-bed Ford F-150 super crew cab with tow package that includes a tow/haul feature and anti-sway feature. The Airstream dealership is recommending I purchase an Equalizer (brand name) hitch at nearly $900 installed. My question is simple, is this necessary or overkill? Thanks in advance for any help -- much appreciated.

Scrap or parts

Hi everyone! I posted several months ago after my husband and i learned a very hard and expensive lesson about doing due diligence before buying...the very short version is we bought a damaged AS Bambi off ebay with the intention of restoring it slowly but the seller never disclosed that there was a certificate of destruction on it, not a salvage title as we were led to believe. We have since settled with the seller and got some money back (we didn't want an even longer drawn out court case in another state, this is why we settled ). We also are super in love with the 16' sport we have since purchased from Colonial AS:) Anyway, we are now stuck deciding what to do with the damaged one that is still in our yard so i wanted to ask opinions. Is it worth taking it apart and try to sell parts or should we just cut our losses and have her hauled away for scrap? It seems like a lot of work to take her apart..Thanks!:)

7 way connector question 73 Overlander

I made a decision to have my pole connector replaced with the newer type connector. The old was not working well and I had to fool with it to get things to turn on.

I got the Airstream back and everything worked great. I noticed that when I went to put the cover over the wired connector on the inside of the trailer I noticed a cut wire. It was a red wire attached to what looked like was a reset which was connected to a blue wire. What did they Cut?

Black Tank

After having the black tank out of my 61 Ambassador and seeing the size of the exit hole and the basically flat bottom of the tank, I just don't think it's worth using this type of setup.

I am changing the back piece of plywood anyways, so I am adding this type of black water tank. It just seems like a MUCH better setup.

So, my factory tank and brass valve are for sale! Tank is perfect, valve leaks.

Here is the style of tank I want to go with. I could go larger, as I have the space for it under the closet towards the front (Curb side setup). It would also push the valve towards the back further, making it easier for Streetside dumps. I'd put it just behind the last frame support going out the Curbside off the main rail on that side.

Hooking up the gray lines would almost be easier and re-connecting in the same spot.

Opinions? I need this detail decided fairly quickly. I'll need the tank next week if I can stay on schedule.

This airstream is one of a kind. It is limited edition numbered to 123. With some upgrades on the house we are looking to sell because of lack of time to be able to camp. Whoever gets this will be very excited. The condition is great as it has only been used a hand full of times.

Tire Pressure

Does anybody know what the proper tire pressure is on the Interstate? I have mine at 80 psi because that's how the dealer had it, but I also read on this forum somewhere that it should be 61. Any down side to keep driving at maximum pressure other than rougher ride? My thought is I don't have to worry about inflating the tires when I load up the van, if it's already at 80 psi.

1968 Silver Streak Continental Rocket Interior Skin Question

Hello, I am brand new to this! I just bought a 1968 Silver Streak (Continental Rocket) and my brother is helping me reno it. (He's the handy guy with the tools!) Before we start disassembling the interior I have a question about the interior skin. Do most people carefully remove the skin (we want to better insulate it and it needs some rewiring) and then reinstall the interior skin and paint it or do you buy new interior skin? I am on a budget (aren't most people) and want to make sure we do this as correctly. What kind of insulation do you think is best? We haven't touched anything inside yet. I would be most grateful for your advice! Thank you! ~ Rocket Cramer

See-Level Installation - how to access tanks?

I want to install a See-Level system on my 2013 25' Flying Cloud RB Twin to replace the problematic MicroPulse system.

Thought I could just drop the pans to access the tanks to install the sensors to the tank sides. But looking at other threads, it appears that the tanks are not supported independently of the pans and that they would fall down when the pan is removed.

I have seen suggestions about cutting the pan to access the tank and then repairing cut section but I'm not sure how much clearance there is between the pan and the tank. Nor what tool would be appropriate to perform this type of surgery.

Perhaps a hybrid approach to create holes in the bottom of the pan so that I could put some supports against the bottom of the tank while I drop the pan?

Anyone know how the factory retrofits See-Level monitors?

Suggestions are greatly appreciated but please stick to the subject, as stated in the opening sentence. I'm not interested with ideas on how to fix the MicroPulse system or other work-arounds, I've already tried them with little success.

1978 Sovereign Door lock parts

I have a 1978 sovereign door lock that was disassembled by the PO. Apparently the lock cylinder was drilled and removed, which I still have. The interior handles and bolt are missing as well as the inside wall mounted dead bolt handle. The exterior latch handle and cylinder opening is in great condition. Two questions: will the door lock replacement kits that require riveting a plate to cover the original opening have the needed parts, and, who sells the handles that I need for the interior?

Also I am considering adding an additional Stainless dead bolt.

Realistic weights, time to select a TV

I'm leaning towards a later model, not new, 25 Flying Cloud FB Twin. What should I plan from a practical perspective on for GVTW and Tongue weight?

Serenity 27 FB and proper hitch set up?

Well, I'm new here and have been longing for an Air Stream for a long time. Have towed a 17.5 Bigfoot since '06 with an Equalizer hitch. No problems. So now I 'm keen on a 2014 International Serenity 27 FB to be towed by a new 2014 Toyota Tundra 5.7L. I'm a bit overwhelmed after reading many opinions on the various hitch setups for ASs. Considering it's a Serenity 27 FB and the Tundra, what do you recommend for a good hitch set up? I really like the Equalizer hitch, but my dealer here says they give too stiff a ride to an Airstream. And I understand the benefits of a ProPride or Hensley, but cost may hold me back there. What else would you recommend? Thanks. Don

Durability of Airstreams

Hi, guys!

I'm new to the forum and we are strongly considering an Airstream as our next rig, particularly so that we can use an Amerideck and haul our Goldwing with us.

We are coming from the vintage Bluebird world, so I'm very familiar with rig maintenance issues, etc. To tell you the truth, I'm looking forward to not having to worry about $5,000 tire changes and $400 oil changes. :)

As you can imagine, coming from the Bird, almost any other RV seems dainty and delicate. My bride is particularly concerned about the vulnerability of Airstreams to hail damage.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much of a problem this is within the AS world? We'd hate to pour all sorts of work, time and money into a beautiful AS and then have it all destroyed in one summertime thunderstorm.

We really look forward to the rallies, WBCCI, etc. as we have very much enjoyed that aspect of Bluebird ownership.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Does anyone have experience in replacing the shore power outlet? I bought the new outlet however I discovered that the old outlet doesn't have any extra wire to allow it to be pulled out. This is on my 2008 25FB Safari SE.
