RESTAURANTs worth stopping: Wilcox, Arizona TA Country Pride Restaurant: STOP HERE

jeudi 19 février 2015

After several weeks at several RV Parks in Las Vegas, Nevada and enjoying the Buffets at the Paris (several times) and other Buffets on the larger Strip Casino's... a sleeping GEM of a place that was not expected.

T/A Travel Center, Country Pride Restaurant, Wilcox, Arizona Restaurant #226, 1500 Fort Grant Road, 85643

When traveling from point A to point B gasoline stations are as routine for refilling the tow vehicle fuel tank for we males, as rest rooms are for female passengers. Just by a stroke of luck did we stop at this TA that also has all of the amenities for trailer water and dump facilities. We needed neither, so cannot make any further comment. If you do use them, please add your comments to mine.

The unleaded fuel cost was a dime or so higher than most on the road, but now I see why. The facilities were not filthy. There was plenty of parking for those towing a trailer on I-10. Easy on and off access.

But... the restaurant had a Salad Bar that was as fresh as a Sweet Tomato we frequent in the Littleton, Colorado area. Not only was the Salad Bar only a couple of bucks added to a meal... but my cheeseburger and fries were well worth the stop. The decor appeared to be fresh, clean and inviting. The seating was comfortable. Obviously someone running this operation, maybe Shirley Vrtatko the manager, whom we did not meet as far as I know, but Cindy the waitress was able to handle as many tables and customers in her section.

There is nothing worse than filthy restrooms and after finishing a meal having the experience of "digestion problems while on the road". This place we have marked on our ATLAS as a place to stop on our way leaving or going to Tucson's Rock Show next February.

No... I have no financial interest in T/A Wilcox. I never make mention of the intestinal problems suffered from some greasy spoon and even worse, the cooking area that no body gets to SEE. You could see the cook working on the orders and the orders being placed for the waitresses for... delivery.

I could mention a fast food restaurant in Limon, Colorado which by the time I was out of town... I was sick and wanting to go back and tear the place apart after 400 miles on the road from Kansas City to Littleton, CO. Even their chocolate shake machine served a brown foam... that I rejected and should have left the premises empty handed.

Although the receipt says Server Jennifer, I wrote the name tag of Cindy who waited our table. Trust me... at 180 pounds of shark mentality, I CAN devour a fair share of profits from a Las Vegas Strip Buffet, even at $25 each! Our ticket total was $22.21 with a $4.00 tip added.

Have you stopped at a restaurant worth mentioning? Or maybe one worth avoiding?

Another: Rosie's Diner, 411 Hwy 105 in Monument, Colorado 80132 is also worth a visit. Plenty of parking in the area and the food and service is "stellar".

There are TWO things, maybe three that guys make note. FOOD is one. The other two escape me, but I am sure they would be worth noting as well.
