Chevy Captiva LTZ

mardi 17 février 2015

We have just purchased a 70 Safari that has been stripped of everything except the bathroom ;'). Don't know how much it weighs stripped like that. There is no propane tanks or even tank bracket. I understand that once we start adding weight that we will need to get a more robust TV, but until then we are planning on using the Captiva with the V6 to pull the trailer to some rallies and also to a shop to get some of the plumbing/electrical straightened out. I have purchased a Reese SC WD RP66153 hitch, and a Curt TriFlex C51140 brake controller with the various installation harness. With these components do you experts think we will be able to pull our TT confidently for now? We do live in Northern NM with mountain passes in every direction so some travel will be kind of slow. I did pull the TT home with a Jeep GC that has the 4.0 engine and 280,000 miles on it and it seemed fine going and stopping. Mind you I didn't have any kind of special hitch or brake controller for that short trip but did have to scale some significant climbing. So, open for opinions and learned facts. Thanks so much. Tom
