Awning... Should lock side arm be loose? How to tighten?

The awning arm on the lock side is loose. I don't think it is supposed to have so much play in it? How does one go about tightening it? Ours is the bent arm awning. So I am thinking that the hex nut below it, is the place to start. Assuming the cover needs to come off to get to whatever.
